Welcome from High School Principal, Steve Baker
Our
students come from many countries, and we strive to make each feel
part of the ACS Cobham community through an active participation in
school life. Success during the four years of High School is vital
to the future goals and ambitions of all of our students and their
families.
Our curriculum is based on honours level academic courses plus a
range of electives leading to either an American High School
College Preparatory Diploma, including a wide selection of Advanced
Placement (AP) courses, or the International Baccalaureate (IB)
Diploma.
Virtually all students take at least one IB or AP course at some
point in their High School career, which is notable as ACS Cobham
accepts students with a broad range of academic preparation and
abilities. Students with such varying backgrounds and interests
nevertheless have much in common, most notably the motivation to
work cooperatively with the faculty and each other in realising
their full potential while here, and in preparing for higher
education afterwards.
We strive to help all our students identify and attend the
university which best matches and supports their individual goals.
This aim is supported by a dedicated team of university
counsellors, and through career days, visits by university
admissions directors to our campus, week-long college tours abroad,
and contacts with many institutions of higher education.
Beyond academics, all our students are
encouraged to participate in the numerous extracurricular
activities on offer, including participation in charitable
endeavours and community service projects. Whether it is playing a
Varsity sport, or acting in a play, there is no shortage of
opportunities to channel a student's creative energy.
Working on the principle of genuine mutual respect, the
administration and faculty
strive to bring out the best in each student, encouraging all to
achieve their full potential and to realise the many benefits of
attending an international school.
