Sports
Welcome to the home of the Jaguars, where we offer an energetic
and diverse annual sports programme over three seasons (see chart
below). At ACS Egham we aim 'to promote and teach the values
associated with healthy living, encouraging a lifelong enjoyment of
physical activity', thereby making a major contribution to the
overall education of our students.
We pride ourselves on the high level of student involvement in
sports, and believe that participation in purposeful, competitive
interscholastic athletics will help our children lead full and
valuable adult lives. Our competitive edge is balanced by a
commitment to a 'student first, winning second' principle, and our
enthusiastic and experienced coaches encourage everybody to take
part.
New facilities being
built
A brand new sports facility is being
built at ACS Egham and is due to open in September 2012. As well as
accommodating team activities, the facility will also promote a
wider recreational offer, including a dance studio, fitness suite,
two FIBA basketball courts and an indoor climbing wall.
In addition, the new facility gives us the potential to run an
IB DP course in Sports, Exercise and Health Science. Ultimately,
the new facilities, together with the new IB Centre, will further
support student success through wider campus and curriculum
integration.
Sports programmes
In the Lower School our clubs programme,
comprising soccer, judo, tennis, basketball, yoga, track &
field and other activities, places a strong emphasis on physical
fitness and an active lifestyle. In the Middle
School every student has the chance to play on a team,
regardless of their ability or experience. While High
School take advantage of our membership in
the International School Sports Association, playing Varsity
tournaments in Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Tennis, and Golf
across Europe.
These overseas trips double as
great cultural experiences, giving our students the opportunity to
meet and forge friendships with fellow athletes from other European
schools. We also play other international schools in the London
area, and participate in local tournaments.
If your child joins ACS Egham, we hope that he or she will become
an integral part of the school's sporting life, not only gaining
valuable athletic experience, but also building strong friendships
along the way.
