Welcome from Head of School, Jeremy Lewis
Here at ACS Egham we believe that every student should be
encouraged and challenged to succeed. However whilst we have high
standards for academic achievement, we believe that it is equally
important to equip our students with the necessary skills to
prepare them for the life challenges ahead, all of which can be
directly attributed to the IB Learner profile - inquirers,
thinkers, risk-takers, communicators... all skills for life.
As an IB World School, our curriculum is designed to support a
student-centered approach, with a stimulating, and varied
curriculum that encourages and instills a strong sense of
self-esteem, personal integrity, and a respectful attitude towards
others ensuring well-rounded, responsible and involved members of
the community and the world at large.
ACS Egham is a truly international school with over 40
nationalities represented across the campus. As Head of
School, I am deeply committed to establishing a school culture that
recognises and promotes international mindedness and excellence
within and beyond the classroom. Over the next academic year, it is
my intention to continue the good work done so far with the intent
of improving on what we have and what we can offer.
I have lived and worked internationally for over 35 years and,
along with many of my colleagues, fully understand the practical
experience of being an expatriate family, which can often be
daunting enough without the challenge of choosing the right school.
Those of us involved in international education, are deeply
committed to the ideal that the experience we offer to globally
mobile families can really make a better future for our
children.
We also have a couple of campus developments that have a large
impact on our offerings here, with the additional of the IB Diploma
Centre which opened at the start of this academic year, and the
highly anticipated sports facility being built
Please do come and visit the campus, see us in person so that
you can feel for yourselves what an energetic and dynamic
environment we really have. With the welcome addition of a new IB
Diploma Centre this academic year and the highly anticipated
state-of-the-art sports facility due summer 2012, we have a lot to
shout about. We are justifiably proud of our school and would
welcome the opportunity to show you first hand exactly why that
is.
