Graduation 2011
Thirty four final year students from ACS Egham celebrated the
completion of High School at their graduation ceremony last week on
Friday 10th June. The event was attended by parents and teachers,
who saw the students mark the end of their school life and reflect
on their achievements of the past two years.
The students were addressed by prominent Irish
journalist, author and BBC broadcaster Fergal Keane. Having
reported on some of the world's most troubled conflicts from
Northern Ireland to Rwanda, Keane gave a captivating speech to the
audience of students and their families.
The students have recently completed International Baccalaureate
(IB) Diploma which is a highly regarded international qualification
widely recognised by the world's leading universities. They were
presented their High School Diploma certificates by The Worshipful
The Mayor of the Borough of Runneymeade, David Parr.
Jeremy Lewis, Head of School, said:
"Graduation day marks the end of an era for High School students
and the start of one of the most exciting transitions in their
lives. While many students have been looking forward to this day
for a long time, we hope that their experience at ACS Egham has
been rewarding, enlightening and invaluable. With their school
career now formally at an end, it goes without saying that we wish
them all the very best of luck in their future studies and
careers."
Husban Siddiqi, one of the students who received their High
School Diploma on Friday, has attended ACS Egham throughout his
educational career. Husban, who is the youngest of four siblings
who all attended ACS, planted a cherry tree in the school grounds
on Thursday 9th June as a thanks for his family's time at the
school.
