The International Baccalaureate (IB)
The IB programmes have proved themselves to be the success story in secondary education in recent years. The IB is globally recognised and accepted for continuing education in American and international schools, and at universities worldwide.
ACS Egham is one of only a handful of schools in England and the UK fully authorised to offer all International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes:
- IB Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) ages 3-11
- IB Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) ages 11-16
- IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) ages 16-18
- IB Career-related Certificates (IBCC) ages 16-18.
By offering all three programmes, ACS Egham is able to offer students a seamless continuity of education, throughout their school life.
A curriculum that helps transition
Expat parents sometimes ask if an American curriculum would be a better option for their child while they are living in the UK. ACS Egham parents have testified, however, that the IB Primary and Middle Years Programmes provide an excellent preparation for school when they return to their home country:
"I am happy to say that my three kids had a wonderful transition back (to the USA). They all quickly adjusted academically and socially to the traditional American school system. They are extremely well prepared for the classroom assignments and can complete their work with ease, which I think is important for giving them a sense of mastery and well-being in their new school environment. I can say without reservation that ACS Egham prepared my children for a smooth transition back to US schools."
