Peter Hosier, Middle School Principal

Peter was born and educated in England, and has studied at both Sussex University and Nottingham University. He worked in industry before moving into international education, teaching both English and Science (Physics). Peter is an expert on adolescent education and in addition to being Middle School Principal, has also held the roles of Acting Head of School and MYP coordinator. Before joining ACS, Peter worked for 12 years in Singapore at ISS and OFS International Schools as a Science and EAL teacher, Head of Department, Dean of Students, and Middle School Principal. Peter was also the inaugural MYP coordinator at ISS, responsible for successfully implementing their MYP programme and achieving IB accreditation for the school. Peter has strong links with the International Baccalaureate, having worked in IB World schools for the last 20 years and also having worked for the IB as a workshop leader and school evaluator. Peter has two children who both attend ACS Egham.

We offer the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP), which prepares students for the academic rigours of the IB Diploma in High School.

The philosophical framework of the IBMYP focuses on:

  • Differentiated inquiry-based learning
  • Intercultural awareness
  • Developing ‘learning how to learn’ skills and a ‘growth mindset’
  • Strong communication skills
  • The education of the whole child.

Our approach adds:

  • A warm, friendly and welcoming community
  • Strong parent/faculty partnerships
  • A pastoral programme focussed on scholarship, citizenship and wellbeing
  • An extensive after-school sports programme
  • An active Student Council
  • A comprehensive music offer with choirs, instrumental tuition, ensembles and bands
  • A motivational merit and awards system
  • Drama opportunities in a range of school productions
  • Engagement with peers from other international schools.

We are proud of our active and challenging learning environment – one where the needs of adolescents are understood and genuinely appreciated.
