Charity - Meet the team
The Development and Alumni Relations Office was established in 2017 with Amba Shirfield as Head of Development & Alumni Relations, to support ACS’ transition to becoming a UK charity in 2018 as our founder’s wishes. We launched fundraising at the Spring Gala in March 2019 and have been raising funds since then to support a wide range of campus development projects, teaching and learning programmes as well as financially assisted places, working closely with the senior leadership team
Parents and our vast community of international alumni are donating to each of these initiatives although we recognise we are at the beginning of our charitable journey. Our role is to help each ACS school – through the philanthropic support by developing new specialist educational teaching and learning spaces, investing in teaching excellence and enabling talented students to access an ACS education through our bursary programme.
We work closely with the Heads of School and the PSOs to shape all of our fundraising campaigns. Melanie Gordon-Hughes joined the team in February 2020 as Senior Development Officer brings with her over ten years of alumni engagement and educational fundraising experience. Melanie will be supporting Amba in building up a culture of philanthropy throughout our school community.
