Challenge & Enrichment Programme

Enabling more to meet their true potential

This approach reflects our philosophy to differentiate within an inclusive environment, and our two full-time Challenge & Enrichment Coordinators support and inspire the very highest level of student achievement. These coordinators also offer school-wide enrichment opportunities to all students, enabling more to meet their true potential.

While the vast majority of our students’ goals are successfully met through our core curriculum, the Challenge & Enrichment programme was created in 2014 to enhance provision for those who demand an additional level of challenge.

The support from our Challenge & Enrichment coordinators differs across divisions in order to best address the individual learning environments, instructional models and developmental needs of students. Provision is offered in the four divisions as follows:

Early Childhood
  • Curriculum planning support
  • Professional development for teachers
  • Observation
  • Documentation and case management
Lower School
  • Curriculum planning support
  • Professional development for teachers
  • Observation
  • Assessment
  • Documentation and case management
  • Push-in support during whole-class teaching
  • Pull-out individual or small-group instruction for students unable to access differentiated curriculum presented during whole-class teaching
Middle School and High School
  • Curriculum planning support
  • Professional development for teachers
  • Documentation of: identification processes; student provision; reflections (student portfolio)
  • Challenge and Enrichment classes are available for more able students in Middle School
  • Access to enrichment opportunities in and out of ACS, as well access to complex resources
School Wide Enrichment

Another important aspect of our Challenge & Enrichment Coordinators’ work is to promote learning enrichment for all students in our school. Our ACS Connect programme is designed to put our students in touch with the many exciting opportutnities to explore and enrich learning that exist outside the school. This is achieved through:

  • Regular communications to students and teachers about current learning opportunities
  • Field trips to connect with universities, businesses and experts
  • Bringing external agencies, experts and guest speakers to share their expertise with our students.
