International menus for a global community
The school's Catering Department is operated in-house, enabling us to employ and train all our own chefs. We take great pride in our autonomy as it allows us to produce the type of creative, fresh and nutritious food that appeals to our international community.
We keep our menus seasonal, change them regularly, and embrace the School Food's Trust nutritional guidelines. Your ideas and recipe suggestions are always welcome. We hope you take full advantage of our fantastic catering facilities, and look forward to serving you soon.
Students have the option to pay for their food by either using biometric thumb print recognition or using a ParentPay system swipe card. This allows the security of a cashless system whilst also being user friendly and helping speed up the queues.
We currently have a Gold certification on "Eat out, Eat Well" which is a national council run award for healthy eating, high standards in the kitchen, food service, food preparation and storage areas.
We have a Silver award in "Food for Life" which is based towards healthy living, knowing where your food comes from, promoting organic foods, educating children, making sure there are none of the nasty additives like medicines and colourings found in many foods nowadays. We are currently working towards gold and the only criteria we need to achieve this is an educational garden, which we are busy developing.
We have a 5 star Hygiene rating awarded from the Environmental Heath Officer.

Sustainability & Welfare
As a department, we work with the school in many aspects to reduce our waste and our carbon footprint and we recycle as much as we can. What we are unable to recycle is incinerated for fuel.
We compost a large amount of our food waste and we recycle all of the cardboard that we use. We use biodegradable disposable packaging for our packaged food and biodegradable disposable cutlery.
We source our food locally to reduce our carbon footprint and all food is GM free, MSG free and free from bad E numbers.
- All of our poultry & eggs are free range
- All our meat is Red Tractor Farm Assured
- All of our fish is from the MSC list ensuring we only use sustainable fish
About Chris Ingram - Head of Catering
Chris joined ACS three years ago and he is very proud of how far the food offering in all three schools has developed in that time. The team has introduced all freshly made products, as well as recruiting highly qualified chefs (largely from a high street retail environment), which has brought a more competitive and higher quality feel to our service, presentation and menu variety.
Having been in the hospitality industry for over 30 years, his background is varied in that Chris has worked in the commercial as well as high street environments, run the catering in five hospitals in London, and created the largest pasta chain in Europe, looking after sixty five restaurants throughout the U.K. Chris really enjoys being involved on a daily basis and speaking directly to the students to find out exactly what it is they are looking for and passing this on to our lead chefs, who meet every six weeks to plan and develop the menus which change every term.
About Chris Owen - Catering Manager - Cobham
Chris is very passionate about food and nutrition. He has been in catering since 1996 and comes from a restaurant and hotel background. Chris started at ACS in 2011 as a chef and became the catering manager here at Cobham in 2015. ACS's core values have fit in very well to his own personal beliefs about food.
He embraces the international experience through food and service. Chris enjoys interacting with the students wherever he can, including offering cookery classes where he teaches them how to cook and to understand the importance of a healthy & balanced diet, as well as encouraging students to make healthy choices themselves. Chris is also very passionate about photography, so every year he gives projects to our photography classes.
In past years the students have taken some great photos for our dining room and this year they are taking our staff photos, which we are all looking forward to seeing. He feels very lucky to be able see all the students on a daily basis as he gets to see them grow and progress through their time with the catering team.
