I embrace the vibrant multicultural nature of international schools as it has broadened my perspective and enriched my approach to teaching. At ACS Egham, I have had many opportunities for both personal and professional growth. One of the most rewarding aspects of working at ACS Egham is working with students and colleagues from various different cultural backgrounds as we can learn from each other's diverse experiences. At ACS Egham, a child or young person can be who they want to be. They will come to school to a supportive environment that embraces diversity, while fostering a global perspective and understanding.
My colleagues are passionate about education and I have benefited from their expertise, knowledge and support throughout my time here. There is an environment of collaboration and a desire to grow together professionally. Professional Development is encouraged and I was able to earn a Master's degree while working here. We have enjoyed a wide range of professional development experiences both on-site and in other educational settings.
The students are a pleasure to teach, demonstrating a strong work ethic and dedication to their studies. What sets them apart is their passion for self-exploration, particularly in the realm of computer science. Furthermore, the school's resources, including powerful computers, accessories and iPads, enable us to push the students beyond the ordinary, creating engaging opportunities for them to delve deeper into the world of computer science and technology. This access to advanced technology enriches their learning experience and equips them with valuable skills for the future.
I really enjoy working at ACS Egham, it's the best work-life balance I have ever had in my long career. It's a lovely place to work at and is run on respect and dialogue with all staff in all departments and although I am responsible for a support service, I genuinely feel heard and included in the bigger picture delivering the best service and experience for all our students.
I love the freedom and creativity I am given to explore what interests my students and develop a life-long love of learning for them in a safe space where they feel free to exchange and engage with each other in an inclusive environment. I enjoy working with a staff who are as passionate as I am about neurodiversity and ensuring that we are able to provide a place and curriculum of a high standard, that caters for individuality and a sense of achievement.
