Celebrating outstanding IB results at ACS Egham
This week 56 ACS Egham students received their final IB Diploma results, allowing them to attend world-class universities in the UK, US and across the globe.
Thirty-six per cent of ACS Egham students were awarded 38 points or above, equivalent to 236 UCAS points. To put this into perspective, four A* grades at A Level are worth 224 UCAS points.
Jeremy Lewis, Head of School at ACS Egham, commented:
I am immensely proud of the class of 2018 and all they have achieved. By completing the IB Diploma, a world-renowned qualification, students could not be better prepared for the future. The students’ determination and dedication to their studies has been outstanding and a real credit to them and to the dedicated teachers who teach them!
Twenty per cent of the 2018 class completed bilingual diplomas in languages including Dutch, Russian and Portuguese, reinforcing the international mindset of the IB. Many of the ACS Egham leavers will be going on to study at leading higher education establishments, including University of Oxford; University of Cambridge; London School of Economics; King’s College London; McGill University and University of Michigan.
Sonia Ali, IB Diploma student and 2018 graduate, commented:
The structure of the IB has provided me with the foundation and flexibility to be able to pursue a career in either the sciences, humanities or languages due to the breadth of the programme. The IB has also helped me become an independent learner and thinker, able to design my own academic path and feel more confident at university.
ACS Egham is now offering bursaries to children aged 11+, 13+ and 16+ for the 2018/2019 academic year. The bursaries are offered to students who will benefit most from an ACS education, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, but might not otherwise be able to attend the school. The financial awards will range from twenty per cent to 100 per cent of the schools’ fees, with all bursaries awarded on a means-tested basis and dependent on the student’s individual circumstance.
