Lauren Haley, ACS Egham Class of 2009
“ACS Egham had a huge impact on who I have become, both in my career and personally, so coming back to share my experiences with the students felt like coming home.”
On a recent visit to campus, alumna Lauren looked back affectionately to her high school years at ACS Egham. For her, coming to the school was a life-changing experience where she gained inspiration and confidence to pursue a career in music.
"ACS Egham had a huge impact on who I have become, both in my career and personally, so coming back to share my experiences with the students felt like coming home," said Lauren.
An incredibly talented musician, Lauren was motivated and mentored by ACS Egham Head of Music Irina Walters. Upon graduation, she won a coveted place at the Eastman School of Music in New York to study violin performance and then went on to set up her own music school (Lauren Haley Studios) in Houston, which enrolls 40 musical families per year and maintains a considerable waitlist. Lauren is the author of the bestselling book Kids Aren't Lazy: Developing Motivation & Talent Through Music (2018).
"Without the support and dedication from my teachers, I wouldn't be where I am now," said Lauren. "Music is my passion and it's incredible what you can achieve when you are given the right environment in which to succeed. It was a joy coming back to campus to share my experiences with students and be reunited with my incredible teachers eight years on."
