ACS International Schools Cobham is seeking a Kitchen Porter to start as soon as possible.
The main responsibilities of this role are the cleaning of plates, cutlery, kitchen areas and kitchen equipment, maintaining the highest hygiene standards in the kitchen and food service area, as well as the general day to day running and cleaning of the kitchen and food court.
Working schedule:
- 2 week rota: 07:00 – 15:00 week 1, 11:00 – 19:00 week 2
- 40 hours per week
- Term time only.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Health & Safety legislation and always follow in-house procedures and policies
- Assist in the day-to-day preparation of food services including events
- Adhere to, monitor and help enforce our departmental HACCP Policy
- To ensure plate, cutlery and utensils are cleaned in a timely fashion
- To set up, serve and clean down service areas after the school service, if necessary, liaise between the duty chef and the duty lunch supervisors
- To ensure the dining hall is cleared of dirty crockery after every service
- Maintain the cleanliness of the liquid containers, plate trollies & cutlery stations within the dining hall
- Maintain the cleanliness of large kitchen equipment, delivery and bin areas
- To safely follow all kitchen procedures and policies
- To have a responsibility to always maintain the highest hygiene standards
- Operate kitchen equipment as part of daily cleaning tasks
- Ensure that all COSHH procedures are adhered to
- Ensure that all daily cleaning checklists are completed and signed off.
- Perform any other reasonable duties required by the Catering Manager or Sous Chef.
Experience Required:
- Previous experience preferred, but in-house training can be provided
- Literacy skills to a level of understanding to be able complete all online training and complete daily checklists.
Person Specifications:
- Good communication skills
- Literacy skills to understand and fill out HACCP checklists
- Great customer service is essential
- Experience in a similar food service job is desirable
- Due to location, own transportation highly recommended
- Must be a team player with a ‘can do’ attitude
- Good organisational skills
- Ability to work in line with ACS’ values.
