ACS International School Egham are seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to provide support throughout the school year for our primary school section which comprises of Early Years School (ages 3-6 years) and Lower School (6-11 years).
At ACS Egham International School, we closely follow the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and we offer the best in international education to our students.
Successful candidates should ideally have some experience of working in relevant teaching-related or associated fields, specifically with younger children aged 3 – 11 years.
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide support and assistance to class teachers in the day-to-day operating environment of the classroom and playground.
- To ensure a close match between the learning experiences offered and the individual needs of the children in the class, as to give each child an opportunity to achieve the maximum of his/her capability, providing children with opportunities to manage their own learning and become independent learners.
- To create a secure, happy, and stimulating classroom environment, maintaining the highest standards of organisation and discipline, and a high standard of display both in the classroom and in other areas of the school.
- To foster each child’s self-image and self-esteem and establish relationships that are based on mutual respect and ensure that the school’s aims and objectives in relation to the curriculum, equal opportunities, and discipline are promoted in everyday classroom organisation and practice.
Person specification
The successful teaching assistant will ideally have:
- Experience working with Primary aged pupils (children 4-11 years)
- Experience working with the PYP or similar international curricula (this will be useful but is not essential).
- Experience and understanding of a wide range of learning abilities
- Professional understanding of the educational needs of children
- International School experience (this will be useful but is not essential).

- Good communication skills
- Clear understanding of the confidential and safeguarding nature of the role
- Flexible, cooperative approach to work
- Strong IT skills to support teaching and learning
- Good understanding of assessment for learning
- Ability to work effectively with others and as part of a team
- A proactive approach to continual professional development
- Positive, good-humoured, with a willingness to learn
Start date: April 2025
Working hours: Monday- Friday 08:00-15:30 (term time only)
Duration: One fixed year initially
