ACS Cobham are looking for Resource Teacher to join their team as soon as possible. The main purpose of this role is to support both gifted and talented students and those that have additional learning needs.
Key duties and responsibilities:
Identify of more able students according to the school’s criteria using all available data sources including MAP, OLSAT, CEM, Morrisby, PSAT and internal grades Serve as the case manager for each assigned list of students providing services in accordance to level of need
Develop and oversee provision for more able students and for goal setting, mentoring and monitoring the progress of these students.
Counsel and support more able students in high school in preparation for university
Discuss, plan and implement special test accommodations for resource students’ exams; conduct and proctor tests and exams
Teach specific learning strategies within the context of curriculum (IB, AP, High School courses) individualised for student learning needs.
Case manage more able students in the high school based on individual challenge plans.
Coordinate and promote enrichment opportunities suitable for more able students.
Conduct informal assessments and help each student acquire academic, metacognitive and self-advocacy skills Maintain regular communication with parents and prepare semester report cards
Provide continuity of the students’ educational experience to allow integration from diverse curriculum to IB and AP curriculum
Liaise with pastoral team, boarding staff, teachers and external service providers to provide academic support and assessment (internal and external) services for the students 9th- 12th grade.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Educated to Bachelors degree or international equivalent as a minimum in the relevant subject
A teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent)
At least two years experience teaching students with additional needs and gifted and talented students
Strong IT skills, preferably with Apple products
Significant experience and willingness to integrate technology to improve teaching and learning
Demonstrable positive and tolerant outlook, enthusiasm for teaching and good understanding of behaviours of the relevant age group
Fluent in both verbal and written English
Experience of teaching in an international school
Salary range is GBP 35,000 to GBP 43,000 per annum
