Tim has considerable CEO, Director, and senior management experience in charitable, not for profit, commercial and customer service roles.
He has held Board-level positions within the charitable, media, and hospitality sectors working for BT, the British Film Institute, the UK Film Council, and The Lansdowne Club.
Tim has led teams working across the world including in Asia, the US and Europe. He holds a Masters in Management, and has led the development of exciting education and learning organisations. Tim is also a member of The Worshipful Company of Musicians Livery Company, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Robert Harrison grew up in the United States, where he studied and worked in religious, public and higher education, earning a PhD in Religion and Sociology from Duke University in 1991.
Until he joined the staff of the International Baccalaureate in 2010, he was a special educator, teacher leader and programme coordinator in a large and highly-diverse school system near Washington, D.C. From 2007-2014 he served as adjunct faculty at George Mason University’s Center for International Education, where he taught advanced courses in curriculum design, assessment and action research.
Robert served as the IB’s first manager for global education and in 2013 was appointed Head of Middle Years Programme (MYP) Development in The Hague, Netherlands. In that post, Robert was responsible for academic development of MYP eAssessment, as well as the worldwide implementation and evaluation of MYP: Next chapter. A frequent author and presenter on international and middle level education, he has been co-editor-in-chief of the IB Journal of Teaching Research. Robert took up the post of ACS Education Strategy Director in 2018.
Gavin Charles joined ACS International Schools as Finance Director in September 2016 and is responsible for the Group’s Finances, as well as Estates & Facilities.
He has a wide range of experience as a Finance Director, including listed companies and private equity backed businesses.
In his earlier career, Gavin qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young before getting broad business training with P&G and British Airways. He is happily married with one son.
Martin Hall grew up in Scotland and gained his first degree in Political Economy and Philosophy from the University of Glasgow.
He taught Economics, Business Studies, and History at highly regarded state schools in England, and then at a Tanzanian school for two years with the VSO. Martin served as Secondary Principal at the Inter-Community School of Zurich, and most recently, as Director of the International School of Tanganyika in Tanzania. He is an experienced member and co-Chair of accreditation teams and was a Board member of the Association of International Schools in Africa. Martin has a Masters in Educational Leadership from the Open University, and the National Professional Qualification for Headship.
As a school leader, Martin has continued teaching such classes as Economics and Theory of Knowledge, valuing the continued opportunity to develop his professional practice and interact directly with students. Martin is committed to the culture of excellence in schools, setting high aspirations for students and encouraging critical thinking throughout the school community. He is passionate about supporting student achievement and well-being through effective pastoral systems and nurturing student engagement.
Mark Wilson has been teaching and leading schools for over 27 years. He started his career in the UK before moving into International Education by joining Nord Anglia Education in 2009 at The British International School Shanghai as a Headteacher. Mark then moved to the US and was Head of School at The British International School of Houston.
Mark trained as a Drama teacher and has taught a range of subjects over the years at GCSE, A Level, BTEC and IBDP. He still teaches Theory of Knowledge on the IB Programme.
Inspiring others to learn and grow is one of Marks passions and throughout his career he has been privileged to be involved in teacher training, working with a variety of universities and providers including, Middlesex, Nottingham and Sunderland Universities as well as the Royal Academy of Dance. Mark was fortunate to have worked for the UK Department of Education Innovations Unit on Leadership projects. Within Nord Anglia Education he taught or coached on the NAE Middle Leaders and the NEA Senior Leaders courses and wrote and facilitated the Americas Aspiring Leaders programme.
Robert’s journey to ACS has had many stops along the way. British by birth, raised in Australia, educated in Australia and the UK and living and working internationally since 1991.
Robert’s international school career has taken him to Rome, Frankfurt, Berlin, Ho Chi Minh City and Jakarta. In that time, he has taught in Lower Schools as well as Middle School English and Mathematics and Learning Support. He has been a divisional Principal, Assistant Principal, Head of School, Curriculum Coordinator, teacher trainer and member of authorisation teams for the International Baccalaureate Organisation.
Graduating with a degree from Lancaster University in Marketing and French, Hazel started her international marketing career working for American Express in London and Paris.
She then worked in a number of regional and global consumer marketing roles for the mining giant De Beers before moving into the luxury technology and fashion sectors.
Prior to ACS, Hazel worked as Interim Marketing Director at Selfridges attracting both domestic and international shoppers to its mutli-category stores and online platform. Hazel’s appointment to the ACS International Schools Executive team follows a period as Head of Marketing and Admissions across the group.
Hazel brings strong and broad international marketing experience, gained in both large blue chip and smaller organisations with an international footprint. Fluent in French and a strong Italian speaker, she enjoys being part of an international multi-cultural organisation dedicated to advancing education for the next global generation. Outside work Hazel enjoys running, playing tennis, London’s cultural delights and is studying for an OU degree in English literature.
Passionate about shaping people and culture to help organisations in pursuit of their core purpose, Heather has wide experience in leading the people agenda within complex and global businesses across a range of industry sectors including technology, telecoms, FMCG and professional services organisations.
Heather has also worked as an independent consultant with senior leaders leading complex change programmes, whilst delivering executive coaching to enable leaders to achieve their personal and professional goals.
Heather holds a Business Degree from Kingston University, an MSc in Organisational Behaviour from London University Birkbeck, and is a qualified Executive Coach and NLP practitioner with Henley Business School.
In her personal time, she enjoys dog walking with her husband and their crazy cockapoo. She has a passion for singing, is a member of a musical theatre group and delights in embarrassing her family and friends with her antics in local amateur dramatic productions!
Graeme is a qualified teacher and has been teaching for 22 years specialising in Technology, Computing, Electronics and Design.
Starting his career at Oakham School in the Midlands as a teacher and house parent in a boarding house, he moved to Sevenoaks School in Kent in 2006 to take on a Head of Department role. In 2009 he accepted the role of Head of Faculty for Science, developing the largest free Science event in the UK at the time, before progressing to the position of Director of Innovation and Excellence in 2012, which evolved into the role of Director of Outreach and Innovation in 2016.
Graeme has held several other roles during his teaching career: working for OCR, AQA and the IB authoring guides, exams and other materials, and a yearlong secondment at Buckingham palace as a Special Advisor in 2015. Graeme has been awarded an MBE for his ‘services to education’ as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2020.
Graeme received the Lloyds trust teacher of the year in 2005, Pearson Teacher of the year in 2012 and was named by TES as one of the top 5 UK Science teachers in 2014. Graeme is passionate about social mobility and increased social capacity through education, and has worked with hundreds of schools, refugee camps and other charities over the last 10 years to give many opportunities to those in less fortunate circumstances. Outside of the school walls Graeme is a keen climber and motorsports enthusiast, spending most of his down time tinkering with engines, building robots or spending time with his two children Joe and Finn.
