ACS International Schools selected to run Apple Regional Training Centre
ACS Cobham and ACS Hillingdon are proud to have been selected by Apple to run a Regional Training Centre (RTC) for 2021/22, demonstrating the schools’ expertise in delivering specific education-related training that utilises Apple hardware and software.
As part of the new venture, technology leaders from ACS Cobham and ACS Hillingdon will provide training and support to ACS teaching staff and local teachers, as well as educators from further afield in the UK and Ireland. The ACS RTC will offer a range of both online and face-to-face courses, which will be hosted at the ACS Cobham and ACS Hillingdon campuses.
ACS Hillingdon’s Lower School has been an Apple Distinguished School since 2016, having been recognised for its creative use of technology to enable innovation in the classroom. The teaching team at ACS Cobham also includes a number of Apple Distinguished Educators; individuals recognised as being experts on the realities of integrating technology into learning environments and who work closely with Apple to foster innovation in education.
After honing their expertise over the past five years, ACS Hillingdon and ACS Cobham are now well placed to deliver high level training through the ACS RTC.
Apple Regional Training Centres are recognised as being hubs of innovation; utilising the latest technology to enhance learning for not just our own educators, but those in our community too.

“During the pandemic, teachers have been forced into using technology as a necessity, but there is a whole world of opportunities presented by tech innovation. I am personally focussed on increasing the use of Augmented Reality (AR) in schools and we kicked off this year’s series of RTC courses with a six-week AR workshop focussing on purposeful use of AR for iPad in education. I look forward to engaging with more passionate educators over the next year!” Lyndsey comments.
Sue Wakefield, Apple Distinguished Educator, Technology Coach and Coding, Media & Design Teacher at ACS Hillingdon, comments: “I’ve been working with Apple education software for over 20 years and I am really looking forward to the year ahead. As well as getting stuck in liaising with colleagues across the ACS schools to offer a range of technology courses for our new ACS Apple Regional Training Centre, ACS Hillingdon has just been re-accredited as an Apple Distinguished School for the next three years; giving us even more opportunities to get creative with the latest classroom technology.”
