date posted: 19/05/2025

Inspire Positive Behaviour. Champion Student Wellbeing. Lead with Purpose.

ACS Hillingdon is seeking an exceptional Dean of Students to lead on student wellbeing, behaviour, and the overall climate for learning within our vibrant Upper School (Grades 5–12, ages 10-18). This is a pivotal leadership role that will shape and support a culture where students thrive – academically, socially, and emotionally. The role commences in August 2025.

As Dean of Students, you will implement the ACS Behaviour Policy, lead our Grade Leads, ideally coordinate the PSHE programme, and play a key part in safeguarding and professional development initiatives across the Upper School.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Promoting Positive Behaviour: Monitor behaviour trends, manage reporting systems, and implement tailored behaviour plans.

Fostering a Culture of Respect: Uphold clear expectations and consistency, encouraging students to take responsibility for their choices.

Celebrating Success: Support student leadership opportunities and ensure achievements are recognised across the community.

Leading Pastoral Provision: Oversee and support the Heads of Year (Grades 5–12), ensuring high-quality advisory and wellbeing programmes.

Supporting Staff: Deliver training and guidance to teachers on behaviour management and student wellbeing.

Safeguarding and Student Welfare: Act as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and manage tools like the Pulse platform to track student wellbeing.

Engaging Stakeholders: Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families on all aspects of student welfare and conduct.

About You:

  • A qualified teacher (B.Ed/PGCE/licence or equivalent) with substantial experience in pastoral care and behaviour management
  • A strong understanding of the international school context and adolescent development
  • A proven track record of creating a positive, respectful, and engaging learning environment
  • A confident communicator, relationship-builder, and role model with high emotional intelligence
  • Passionate about student wellbeing and educational excellence
  • Committed to upholding the ACS values and driving forward our inclusive, student-centred ethos
  • This would perhaps suit applicants with Head of Year/Grade experience and someone who’s not experienced this exact role before
  • Demonstrate consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written
  • Significant experience and willingness to integrate technology to improve teaching and learning
  • Experience of teaching in an international school is desirable but not essential.

What We Offer:

  • A dynamic and supportive international school community
  • A leadership role with meaningful impact on student lives
  • Opportunities for continued professional development
  • A competitive benefits package including: 3 annual personal days, competitive salary, relocation allowance and visa sponsorship, PMI + Medicash, pension scheme, income protection, life assurance, employee assistance programme, subsidised meals in the canteen, home leave allowance.

If you are ready to make a difference and lead with compassion and clarity, we would love to hear from you.

Safeguarding:

ACS is committed to inclusion across race, gender, faith, identity and abilities. We believe that diversity helps us to fulfil our purpose, realise our vision and exemplify our values.

ACS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and, as an employee of ACS, you are expected to share this commitment. This position is therefore subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
