ACS Cobham’s early years team wins national award for inspiring learners

ACS International School Cobham’s early years foundation stage (EYFS) team has been awarded the Pearson Bronze award for Early Years Team of the Year 2024. The award, announced on National Thank a Teacher Day (19th June), was given in recognition of its high levels of enthusiasm, expertise and commitment to the education of the children that it works with.

Cobham’s EYFS team, Sarah Bleazard, Lyndsey Stuttard and Gwendoline Sandow, have implemented the school’s own Early Childhood curriculum, allowing staff to be more inquiry-focused, play-based and hands-on in their teaching, while maintaining the rigour of learning. Through their cross-curricular approach, the EYFS team integrates patterns of information between different academic subjects, such as English and Maths, and helps children develop the lifelong skills needed to engage with the world and build a better one.

Alongside its mixed approaches to teaching, ACS Cobham stresses the importance of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, as well as a focus into mental health and wellbeing, to help children become model global citizens in the future.

ACS International School Cobham’s Head of School, Barnaby Sandow BEM, said: “At ACS, we know that in order for young people to achieve and become adaptable in a fast changing world, a different approach to learning is needed. The work our EYFS team does is inspiring, and it makes me proud that we’re able to offer our teachers the freedom and flexibility to give our children the best education possible. This award is thoroughly deserved.”

ACS International School Cobham was founded on the ambition of creating a community that plays a role in the lives of local and global families. Through its multicultural identity and commitment to diversity, ACS Cobham is home to over 1,300 students that represent over 80 nationalities who learn from a blend of the best academic programmes from around the world.
