The Global Citizen Diploma (GCD)
The GCD is an additional Upper School credential earned alongside and complementing our academic programmes.
Its various elements encourage students to step outside their comfort zones and foster self-awareness and self-directedness through local and global experiences.
By identifying their passions, each student earning the GCD becomes more inclined to act ethically and responsibly as a global citizen.
The structure of the Global Citizen Diploma is:
Core Values
The core values of global citizenship reflect an understanding of others, awareness, action and advocacy.
Competencies
In addition to core values, each student has an individual combination of competencies that shape what they contribute to the world.
Area of Expertise
Sometimes students transcend their roles as students and participate in the world as adults with paraprofessional expertise.
BENEFITS OF THE GLOBAL CITIZEN DIPLOMA
-
Allows Upper School students to demonstrate their skills, personality and values beyond their academic grades, and provides them with a tangible, internationally-recognised, qualification.
-
Enables the school to provide new opportunities for students to develop key life skills and a greater global awareness.
-
Prominent addition to any university or job application.
-
Encourages students to take actions to the next level.
I believe the GCD prepares me to think about my skills outside of my grades. What I can bring into a workplace, to internships, with some of the other things I'm doing. It helps to build a strong resume that I can use moving forward as I think about university placements.
