an international curriculum in west london
In our Upper School, students follow a forward-thinking, international curriculum that exposes them to a diverse range of subjects regularly updated and adapted based on the latest academic research and global contexts.
We adopt a holistic approach to education, encouraging students to take responsibility for their own learning by teaching them ‘how to learn’ rather than just ‘what to learn.’
Our curriculum adheres to rigorous international standards, preparing students to undertake widely recognised academic programmes such as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and Advanced Placement (AP). Graduates from these programmes are highly sought after by leading universities worldwide.
The skills we’ve developed at ACS Hillingdon will prove critical in an increasingly connected, globalised world. They enable us not only to understand and be open to others’ viewpoints but also to remain curious as we venture into the world, knowing there is still much left to uncover. These attributes—a diverse cohort, an international faculty and curriculum, and the facilitation of open discussion—are what make ACS such a unique and valuable experience before entering the workforce.
Offering choice: IB Diploma or AP
Students throughout the school develop the excellent study skills, demonstrating the ability to work independently and collaboratively and relishing the many opportunities to take responsibility for their own learning. These skills are central to the commitment of the school's trustees and leadership.
Digital learning in Upper School
In the Upper School, students use technology to extend learning beyond the classroom. Grades 5 to 8 follow a 1:1 iPad programme, while Grades 9 to 12 use an Apple MacBook, either school-provided or enrolled in the school’s system. Students also have access to specialist spaces, including iMac labs and media suites, and regularly share their learning with families through platforms such as ManageBac.
Our Digital Teaching and Learning (DTL) team works in partnership with teachers and students to ensure technology is used meaningfully and effectively, supporting purposeful integration, building digital literacy, and encouraging responsible, creative use.
Through these experiences, students develop the skills and mindsets to think critically, act responsibly, create meaningfully, and make a positive impact.
ACS Hillingdon has been recognised as a prestigious Apple Distinguished School.
