Bulgarian Home Language Enrichment Tutor

Are you a passionate Bulgarian speaker who enjoys inspiring young people to celebrate their language and culture?

ACS International School Cobham is seeking a Bulgarian Home Language Enrichment (HLE) Tutor to deliver a 1 hour weekly co-curricular programme for students aged 4–14 who speak Bulgarian at home. This is a rewarding opportunity to help children develop confidence in their home language while strengthening their connection to Bulgarian culture in a welcoming and supportive school environment.

The Role

Working closely with the Home Language Enrichment Coordinator, you will plan and deliver engaging weekly lessons that:

  • Develop students’ conversational Bulgarian and grammatical accuracy
  • Celebrate Bulgarian culture, traditions, festivals and history
  • Create a welcoming “home away from home” where students can connect through their shared language and heritage
  • Work towards an end-of-year project to be shared with families.

You’ll also:

  • Maintain student attendance records
  • Complete required school safeguarding and compliance training
  • Manage the programme within an agreed budget
  • Build positive relationships with parents and the wider school community.

Requirements We’re Looking For:

Essential

  • Native or home-speaker level fluency in Bulgarian
  • Strong knowledge of Bulgarian culture and history
  • Academic experience
  • A proven track record of professionalism and reliability.

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification or relevant degree/certificate
  • Recent teaching experience
  • Experience working with children aged 4–14
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working with parents
  • Competent using Apple Mac computers.

Position Details

Start Date: 1 September 2026
Location: ACS International School Cobham, Portsmouth Road, Cobham, Surrey KT11 1BL
Hours: 1 hour per week (day to be agreed), term time only
Salary: Competitive hourly rate (shared with shortlisted applicants). The role is paid over 52 weeks to include training and meeting time.
