What if your next social media role was about telling stories that actually matter?
We are looking for a creative, digitally savvy Social Media & Content Manager to join the central Marketing team at ACS International Schools, based in Cobham.
Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, you will play a key role in shaping how ACS appears and feels across social media. This is a hands-on role for someone who sees a story where others see a photo opportunity, knows what makes people stop scrolling, and understands that great content is about more than simply filling a content calendar.
You will work closely with Marketing Managers across our three campuses to uncover the people, experiences and moments that make each ACS school distinctive, then turn them into compelling content that feels authentic to the school and relevant to the platform.
From short-form video and behind-the-scenes content to interviews, campaigns and new social formats, you will help ACS tell its story in fresh and engaging ways.
What you’ll be doing
Content strategy and planning
- Lead the monthly social media content calendar, working with campus Marketing Managers to identify the stories worth telling and plan what needs to be captured
- Develop new content formats and series that encourage audiences to stop, watch and engage
- Stay ahead of social media trends, platform developments and emerging formats, particularly within education, and bring relevant ideas and opportunities to ACS
- Balance a clear strategic approach with the flexibility to respond to the moments and stories happening across our schools.
Content creation and storytelling
- Turn everyday student, staff and school experiences into engaging content with a clear narrative and purpose
- Get out onto our campuses and capture content yourself, spending time across our three sites and staying close to the people and stories you are representing
- Create and edit short-form vertical video, photography, graphics and other social-first content
- Work with the Digital Marketing Manager to develop creative for both organic and paid social campaigns
- Adapt content for different platforms while maintaining the individual character and personality of each ACS school.
Social media management
- Own the day-to-day management of ACS social media channels, including copywriting, scheduling, publishing and community engagement
- Ensure every post has a clear purpose and contributes to the wider content strategy
- Bring creativity and fresh thinking to how ACS communicates with its audiences.
Campus support and coaching
- Brief and coach campus Marketing Managers on effective content capture, including interviews, angles, imagery and vertical video
- Help colleagues develop a stronger instinct for what makes compelling social content, so that the content captured across our campuses is purposeful, engaging and usable.
Performance and reporting
- Monitor social media performance and report against agreed growth and engagement KPIs
- Use data and audience insight to understand what is working, what isn’t, and what we should do differently next time
- Be prepared to challenge an idea, format or approach when the evidence suggests there is a better way.
Wider marketing support
- Support website content, creative projects and wider digital marketing activity as required
- Contribute ideas and expertise across the wider Marketing team.
Digital safeguarding
- Follow ACS safeguarding requirements in all content creation and publication
- Ensure appropriate permissions and procedures are followed, including do not photograph requirements, without exception.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who understands that successful social media sits at the intersection of creativity, storytelling, audience insight and data.
Essential experience and knowledge
- Experience of building and growing an audience, either professionally or through your own channels
- A strong understanding of what earns attention, encourages engagement and keeps people watching
- Confidence using analytics and performance data to inform content decisions and demonstrate impact
- Working knowledge of website CMS platforms, ideally WordPress
- A good understanding of SEO and how content can support search visibility.
Desirable
- Experience using Hootsuite or a similar social media management platform
- Experience working in education or another environment where safeguarding and permissions are particularly important.
Skills and aptitude
- You are highly digitally aware and understand why content works, not simply what is currently trending
- You are a storyteller first and a social media manager second. You can spot the narrative in an ordinary moment and turn it into something people want to watch or share
- You are confident creating short-form video and understand how to capture attention from the very beginning
- Strong video editing skills, with experience creating engaging vertical content using Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut or similar tools
- Strong graphic and image editing skills, with experience using Canva and Adobe Creative Suite
- You are curious and experimental, always looking for the next format, idea or approach rather than relying on what worked last year
- You are organised and able to manage multiple projects, deadlines and stakeholders simultaneously
- You are collaborative and confident working with colleagues across different campuses, bringing people with you while maintaining a clear creative vision.
Why join ACS?
- At ACS, you will have the opportunity to work across three distinctive international schools and tell the stories of a genuinely diverse community
- You’ll be part of a central Marketing team where ideas are encouraged, creativity has room to breathe, and your work will have a visible impact on how prospective families, current families, students, staff and the wider community experience ACS.
If you are someone who instinctively thinks in stories, formats, hooks and possibilities, we’d love to hear from you.
