School Nurse (part-time)

ACS International Schools is seeking an experienced and dedicated School Nurse to join our friendly and supportive medical team at our Hillingdon campus.

This is a permanent, term-time-only position working two days per week. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the health, wellbeing and safeguarding of our students, while working collaboratively with colleagues, parents and external healthcare professionals.

Position Details
Location: Hillingdon, UB10 0BE
Contract: Permanent, term time only
Hours: 2 days per week, Thursdays + Fridays
Working hours: 08:00–17:00
Start date: As soon as possible

 

Key Responsibilities
As a School Nurse, you will:

  • Provide a high standard of nursing care in accordance with NMC guidelines and school policies
  • Deliver first aid and emergency care to students, faculty, staff and visitors
  • Assess and provide appropriate support to students who are unwell or require medical attention
  • Liaise with parents and guardians as appropriate
  • Provide appropriate care and support for students with chronic medical conditions, working in consultation with their medical advisors
  • Promote health, wellbeing and healthy lifestyles across the school community
  • Maintain accurate medical records and healthcare plans in accordance with school policies and professional standards
  • Coordinate vaccination schedules and arrangements
  • Provide health awareness training and guidance to members of staff
  • Contribute to child protection and safeguarding procedures and uphold health and safety standards at all times
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a responsive, professional and student-centred medical service.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
We are looking for a qualified and experienced nurse who can demonstrate:

  • A Registered General Nursing (RGN) or Registered Sick Children’s Nurse (RSCN) qualification
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • A minimum of three years’ post-registration nursing experience, preferably including experience in school nursing, health visiting or practice nursing
  • The ability to work confidently and autonomously while recognising when to seek support or escalate concerns
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to work professionally with students, parents, colleagues and healthcare professionals
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small, supportive team
  • Good computer literacy and confidence using electronic systems and maintaining confidential records
  • A clear understanding of and respect for professional and organisational lines of communication
  • Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
