The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a world-renowned international programme that ensures students aged 16-18 are ready for success at university and beyond.
IBDP students take responsibility for their own learning, developing critical and creative thinking as well as collaboration, research, self-management and communication skills.
This rigorous programme offers students a well-rounded education and is recognised and respected by leading universities across the globe, equipping students not only for academic success but also for a fulfilling and impactful life.
As a group of schools, we have been teaching the IBDP for over fifty years, and many of our teachers are examiners for the programme. Therefore, we have the expertise and knowledge to support and guide students, enabling them to excel and achieve excellent results.
IBDP SUBJECT AREAS
The IBDP’s broad and balanced curriculum requires students to study six subjects during their final two years of school – three at higher level and three at standard level.
The subject areas include Language Acquisition, Sciences, The Arts, Individuals and Societies, and Studies in Language and Literature, and Mathematics. IBDP results are based on a combination of end-of-course examinations and internally and externally-marked coursework.
IBDP students must also complete three Core elements
Theory of Knowledge (TOK)
A 100 hour course taught over two years about critical thinking and inquiry into the nature of knowledge. It is assessed through an oral presentation and a 1600-word essay.
The Extended Essay
A 4000-word independent research essay into a topic that the student has a particular interest or passion in.
Creativity, Activity, and Service (CAS)
Students take part in a range of experiences and at least one project. For many this will involve music, drama, sport, service in the local community and collaboration with our partner schools.
