ACS Cobham named Apple Distinguished School
ACS International School Cobham’s Early Childhood and Lower School have been recognised as a prestigious Apple Distinguished School for 2022–2025 in recognition of its innovative one-to-one iPad and MacBook Air provision.
Apple Distinguished Schools are centres of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence. Comprising of under 700 schools worldwide, they use Apple technology to inspire creativity, collaboration and critical thinking in learning, teaching and the school environment, and have documented results of academic accomplishment.
ACS Cobham was recognised for its focus on augmented reality (AR), and for giving students the opportunity to use Apple technology to facilitate learning and understanding. In the Early Childhood and Lower School, iPads are used daily by all students and have been at the centre of educational projects. One example is the school’s ‘Imagination Monsters’ initiative which saw Pre-Kindergarten students create monsters using drawing and Play-Doh modelling. Students then brought their creations to life using AR, and played games to interact with them in a digital world.
Barnaby Sandow, Head of School at ACS Cobham, said: “Receiving recognition as an Apple Distinguished School is a huge honour, and testament to all our staff, students, and wider ACS community’s dedication to enhance learning. The accreditation also highlights our journey as a pioneer and innovator in education which engages students, and provides tangible evidence of academic achievement. Looking ahead, we are excited to build on our success and are looking forward to sharing even more digital opportunities for our young people in the future.”
Over the next three years, ACS Cobham will play an active role in helping other local and international schools apply Apple technology through a series of educator visits. The school has also been presented with a framed certificate and banner to display in school.
