WHAT IS PROJECT NAMIBIA?
Project Namibia is ACS Cobham’s humanitarian initiative, which started in 1999. This project supports communities in Namibia, particularly through educational and nutritional assistance.
In 2015, the Namibia Project Charity was established as a separate entity, although it has maintained a collaborative relationship with ACS Cobham. Over the past two decades, ACS Cobham has provided significant funding to two schools in Namibia, ensuring that children and young people receive proper nutrition and educational resources.
Annually, ACS students have had the opportunity to visit Namibia, gaining life-changing experiences that inspire them to become better global citizens. The pandemic temporarily halted these international trips and affected the project’s support capabilities. However, the project was relaunched in 2023, reaffirming ACS Cobham’s dedication to making a sustainable impact on the Namibian community.
WHY NAMIBIA?
Namibia is a beautiful country with a rich cultural heritage and a welcoming population. However, it faces numerous challenges, including a high poverty rate, with a large proportion of the population living below the poverty line. Access to education is limited, especially in rural areas where 55% of the population resides. Additionally, Namibia is grappling with a healthcare crisis; the working population has been severely impacted by HIV/AIDS, resulting in a generation of children growing up without parents.
By supporting an international project in Namibia, ACS Cobham can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need. This support also provides ACS students with enriching and educational experiences, fostering their development as compassionate and globally aware individuals.
