Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 5 | Ages 4 - 11

Welcome to ACS Egham Early Childhood & Lower School

Our school is a true community where everyone works together to fully support all of our children throughout their time here. The children are at the heart of our school and we believe their voices are an essential part of their learning.

Our inquiry-based approach allows each child to ask their own questions and develop their own areas of exploration within the teaching framework. In this way, we encourage each child to be the very best they can be as they acquire knowledge, new skills and explore the world around them.

Our highly experienced teaching team work together to plan the children’s learning experience across the curriculum, in their play and in their engagement with each other. All are encouraged to respect and enjoy the diversity of cultures, beliefs and ideas that exist in our school community and the world around us.

It gives us great pride to see our students building on the skills and knowledge they learn with us as they go forward into ACS Middle and other schools.

Primary Years Programme (PYP)

The IB programme for children aged 4 – 11 is the Primary Years Programme (PYP). Like the other IB programmes: the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP), it provides a multi-disciplinary framework for learning which encourages students to think for themselves and take responsibility for their learning.

The PYP is taught in over 109 countries around the world and incorporates all the key subjects such as maths, science, languages and social studies, guided by six main themes:

  • Who we are
  • Where we are in place and time
  • How we express ourselves
  • How the world works
  • How we organise ourselves
  • Sharing the planet

Clubs & Activities

ACS Egham offers a robust and varied mixture of after-school clubs, which run throughout the week. Students can choose sporty options, such as football, rock climbing, yoga, basketball or judo. Spirit Squad gives students an opportunity to dance and cheer, while Sportykidz allows our younger students to play interactive games and our Chess Club allows students to learn and practice against each other.

Innovation Tech, Design Club and drawing and craft clubs are some of the options for students that have a keen interest in creativity and the arts.

Specialist Subjects

The arts programme at ACS Egham has a reputation for excellence. In the Lower School we offer a wide range of activities that broaden intellectual and creative skills. Our PSPE programme focuses on developing personal, social and physical wellbeing. Students explore concepts, knowledge, skills and attitudes that promote a happy and healthy life at school and at home.

Language development is a crucial part of the Primary Years Programme (PYP). We offer the option of French or Spanish in the Lower School and for non-native English speakers, we develop the home language alongside English.

Forest School is scheduled once a week for all students and is a play-based approach to exploring the world around us. With our stunning campus surroundings, children are able to truly explore the outside.

International Mindedness

We are proud to be part of a diverse multi-cultural school community made up of families from many nationalities. We help our students develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes to be internationally-minded, ethical, global citizens, and school ambassadors.
