Welcome from the university and college counselling office
We take great pride in developing effective, confident, and caring individuals who leave ACS as well rounded global citizens ready to act, lead, and change the world. Our mission is to assist students in finding the right “fit” for their future university studies.
“Fit” is defined as meeting the academic, emotional, geographical and financial needs of the student. This attention to detail improves a student’s likelihood of graduating from a chosen college or university, as well as ultimate success in their chosen field of work.
Our Counsellors have a wealth of experience working with a breadth of universities and colleges around the world navigating challenging admission requirements and advocating for students. Each year students attend world-class colleges and universities around the world, with the majority attending higher education institutions in the UK, US and Europe.
ACS Egham has two University and College Counsellors providing a wide range of expert support to ensure a successful transition to university.

Maximising opportunities
Our University and College Counsellors work with each student individually to offer bespoke, student-centred and expert provision to meet a student’s needs by exploring their individual strengths.
- From Grade 9 onwards the students begin to explore opportunities during Careers Week
- In Grade 10 the University Advisers are part of each student’s ‘Pathway’ meetings when selecting programmes and subjects for Grade 11-12
- During Grade 11 and 12, students are guided through the university application process by their nominated Counsellor in 1-2-1 sessions.
Benefits of our college counselling service
Personalised guidance
Each year, our students apply to a wide range of countries: UK, Ireland, US, Canada, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Australia, and occasionally Japan. Our University & College Counsellors offer tailored support to help students navigate university and college applications, ensuring they find the right fit for their academic and personal goals.
Expertise and insights
As ACS Egham is an IB through school, our students take their classes within the framework of the IBMYP and IBDP or IBCP. Our team are therefore highly experienced in the admissions process for an IB graduate, and are able to provide a wealth of insight and guidance.
Access to resources
The majority of our students graduate with two qualifications i.e. an IBDP or IBCP diploma and a US High School Diploma (HSD). We have, therefore, extensive experience navigating a wide variety of university-entrance pathways, and are able to offer a wealth of resources and advice to students, wherever they may have started their education journey and wherever they are hoping to conclude it.
Emotional support
Transitioning to university is a big change, our Counsellors offer a safe space to ease anxieties and provide support throughout the application journey. Many of our staff have experienced living or studying in countries around the world, we therefore deeply empathise and understand how to support students who have made multiple international moves.
