The Arts at ACS Egham
Ready to CREATE
Art is an area in which students can grow, explore, create and learn.
At ACS Egham, we encourage a love of the performing arts, especially with our co-curricular programme. Our performing arts clubs and activities provide a variety of opportunities in drama, music, and dance. Students are able to follow their interests and engage in practical and theoretical learning, fostering their creativity, skills development and enhancing their overall educational experience.
Performing in the school play and seeing many of the students I know from around school in the audience was a very special moment, and being in the play also allowed me to make connections with people outside of my grade level.

Performing Arts Facilities
- Performing Arts Centre (PAC), complete with curtains, banked seating, rigged lights and sound system. The space is versatile, capable of hosting the largest of school productions or the most intimate of recitals.
- 3 Music Practice Rooms as well as dedicated Music classrooms
- Dedicated outdoor amphitheatre space used for outdoor performances throughout the year.
With creative freedom, students develop tolerance, understanding, and perspectives that will benefit them in ways tomorrow has yet to decide. Future-proofing the application of intelligence has never been more important.

Music
Students from Pre-K through 12th Grade (4 to 18 year olds) are encouraged to love and participate in live music via our co-curricular programme.
All are encouraged to join one of our many vocal and ensemble groups, with our most accomplished musicians travelling to Europe each year to take part in the prestigious Association of Music for International Schools (AMIS) competitions.
Many students form and play in bands, including the Student and Staff band, Wall of Sound

Theatre
Theatre is an integral part of co-curricular life at Egham. We have numerous in class and outside of class productions, where students are encouraged to be involved either on the stage or back stage, running sound, lighting or stage managing productions.
We have Lower and Middle School Productions, run after school where students from Grade 4 – 8 can be involved.
We have a High School Production run after school for students in Grades 9 – 12. The productions range from Comedies to Tragedies and offer engagement at all levels for those who want to be involved, whether it is doing the tech, making props or painting scenery or stage managing the shows, everyone is welcome to discover the talents or to develop them.

Trips and events
Grade 6 to 10 students are offered the opportunity to visit London and catch a West End theatre production. The Diploma students in Grades 11 and 12, make several trips to the capital to see a variety of productions. These students also take a full day trip to London to tour theatres and take part in workshops.
The school also participates in an annual International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA) Trip – sometimes in London, more often than not in a European city, where students take part in a Drama Festival. ACS Egham hosted the festival in 2018. Students from all over the world work with international artists to create a final performance in three days, based on a stimulus. Students get to explore ideas and do workshops to develop skills and insights into a range of different Theatre styles and genres.

Productions
Showcasing our hard work is a core part of the performing arts programme at ACS Egham. We host an array of productions and presentations for all ages, including our annual productions (including musical and non-musical productions).
Students are encouraged to develop their passion for theatre and to experience being a part of a production as a great learning opportunity. This also includes opportunities to operate, lighting, sound, stage management, set and prop design / construction as well as take on roles such as assistant director or choreographer.
