Upper School curriculum at ACS Egham

Curriculum

ACS Egham students and staff have a genuine drive for excellence. We prize holistic education, internationalism and communication.

ACS Egham Upper School students follow the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) before choosing between the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP).

It is an education framework designed to develop both learning and life skills, providing a seamless, globally recognised route to success – both in and out of the classroom.

The IBMYP develops critical thinking and challenges students to reflect on their learning experience. The programme encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world within a framework of eight subject groups.

ACS High School Diploma

All ACS Egham students who successfully complete the relevant studies receive an accredited High School Diploma, which underpins the curriculum in Grades 9-12. As part of this, students choose from an extensive range of traditional and contemporary subjects, to create stimulating programmes of study that reflect their interests. The ACS High School Diploma meets the admission requirements of US colleges and universities.

Assessment

In Upper School, we monitor progress through a range of school-based and externally benchmarked assessments. We offer meaningful assessment that nurtures students’ love for learning. At ACS Egham, assessment is inherently more flexible and designed to be more individualistic than other curriculum frameworks. It consists of a variety of ongoing assessment techniques.

Exam results

The holistic approach paired with truly inspiring and enthusiastic teachers has broadened my interests and completely changed my way of engaging with and thinking about the world.
