ACS Cobham students celebrate exceptional IB results

ACS International School Cobham students studying the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP) have achieved a 98% pass rate and will now go on to study at top universities in the UK and around the world – from Harvard to University College London.

The IBDP is a rigorous, two-year qualification and is globally recognised as an alternative to A Levels. Research amongst university admissions officers has shown that it prepares students better for university than other curricula, including A levels, and is advantageous for students wanting to attend university or college both in the UK or around the world.

The average IBDP exam results point score for ACS Cobham students this year was 35.5, which is above the world average of 32 points, and is the equivalent of achieving 2 grade A* and 1 grade A at A Level. The top score available in the IBDP is 45 and the highest score achieved by an ACS Cobham student was an impressive 44 points, roughly equivalent to 5 grade A*s at A Level.

ACS Cobham offers broad selection with no entry exams and has been offering a refreshing alternative to A Levels in the IB curriculum for nearly four decades. The IB enables students to achieve excellence in six subjects in their final years, as well as preparing them to become internationally-minded, global citizens.

Barnaby Sandow, Head of School, ACS Cobham, comments:

“On behalf of all teachers and staff at ACS Cobham, I would like to congratulate our students on what they have achieved this year. Their exceptional IB exam results prove their resilience and they will now embark on the rest of their lives equipped with the best chance to realise their potential. The class of 2022 are going on to some of the top universities in the world, confidently pursuing individual passions and some graduates have secured high-level post-secondary opportunities in sport, creative industries, and business and enterprise.”

In addition to the DP, the school offers the US High School Diploma and Advanced Placement (AP) programmes as alternatives to A Levels. ACS Cobham’s AP results will be released in August.
