ACS Cobham students collaborate with Versuni to create appliances for the future

Students at ACS International School Cobham created designs for a fire detection drone, a robot friend with face recognition, an automatic bedmaker and other futuristic appliances that ‘Make a House More of a Home’ to help launch the new Versuni brand.

Versuni, which in February was rebranded from Philips Domestic Appliances, chose to connect with the younger generation to guide their rebrand and help imagine a future from a unique perspective. ACS Cobham alumnus and Global Brand Manager at Versuni, Thijs Hoogenboom, visited the school and discussed design ideas with the students.

Barnaby Sandow, Head Of School at ACS Cobham said: “It was wonderful to welcome Thijs back to ACS Cobham 25 years after he graduated. Students thoroughly enjoyed talking with him about what homes of the future might look like and need, as part of Versuni’s new brand launch. Partnerships such as this provide an excellent opportunity to develop an intrinsic love of learning, create a culture of collaboration, and harness an understanding of the wider workplace that demands a new kind of citizen.”

As part of the project, Versuni also donated several of its new appliances to ACS Cobham students to give an understanding of what products are in its portfolio and what domestic appliances could look like in the future.

Thijs said: “As part of Versuni’s launch, we chose to connect with the younger generation as we believe their feedback is vital if we are to stay relevant as a company. The students at ACS Cobham were the perfect source of inspiration, and were able to deeply connect with what makes a house a home. My visit to ACS Cobham to talk with the students was a great experience, a walk down memory lane and a real eye opener on the advancements that have been made in the quality and depth of education at the school. I look forward to exploring further collaboration opportunities between Versuni and ACS Cobham in the future.”
