ACS Cobham teacher honoured for Digital Teaching Innovation
ACS International School Cobham‘s Digital Teaching and Learning Specialist, Lyndsey Stuttard, has been named as Digital Innovator of the Year (Silver) at the Pearson National Teaching Awards. Selected from thousands of entries, Lyndsey has been recognised for her commitment to integrating technology into daily learning and promoting the safe and responsible use of it.
At the school, which is based in the Surrey countryside, Lyndsey ensured that all Early Childhood (aged 2-6 years) and Lower School (aged 6-10 years) students are taught an interactive digital skills session once a week. Learning is formulated around how to use different types of technology and digital tools, but also covers more advanced subjects such as 3D printing, Augmented Reality, coding and robotics.
Lyndsey also set up a Digital Design Club for students aged 10-14 years, which encourages students to use design skills to create 3D immersive AR experiences for other students to explore and learn from. In the sessions, young people are encouraged to think about making spaces at ACS Cobham more accessible while linking to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Following her Silver Award success, Lyndsey has now been shortlisted to win one of just 16 Gold Awards, which will be announced and celebrated at a gala ceremony in London on 25 November and televised on the BBC, with winners showcased on The One Show.
Barnaby Sandow, Head of School at ACS Cobham, said: “We are so proud of our commitment to make digital tools and innovation an integral part of approaches to learning at ACS Cobham, so to have Lyndsey, our dedicated and inspiring Digital Teaching and Learning Specialist, recognised by the prestigious Pearson National Teaching Awards is a fantastic achievement.
At ACS, we understand that in order to thrive in an ever-changing world, students need to have a solid understanding of a number of different digital tools. By developing these skills within students, Lyndsey is ensuring they are all ready for a future full of opportunity in whatever comes next in their lives. We are so excited for the Gold Awards and will be wishing Lyndsey every success in November.”
The Pearson National Teaching Awards is an annual celebration of excellence in education run by the Teaching Awards Trust, an independent charity now in its 25th year, that recognises the life-changing work that takes place in education, highlighting the vital role educators play and the work that’s delivered in schools and colleges every day.
