Get ready for a new world of education
International School Cobham announces new bursaries for local students
Call for applications for 2020/21 academic year
ACS International School Cobham is inviting local students to apply for bursaries to attend its Cobham campus. Home to 1,500 students (aged three to 18), and 300 expert faculty and staff, ACS Cobham has a diverse community representing over seventy different nations.
Successful bursary applicants will enjoy superb educational facilities including purpose-built science labs, libraries, IT hubs, art and music studios, plus access to the school’s new Performing Arts Centre with dedicated drama and music spaces, practice rooms, and a flagship 509-seat theatre. Recreational facilities include an outstanding sports centre with 25-metre competition-class indoor pool, basketball and volleyball arena, dance studio, fitness suite, and café. Outdoor facilities include six all-weather tennis courts, and Olympic-sized track, playing fields for soccer and rugby, baseball and softball diamonds, six-hole golf course, and adventure playgrounds.
ACS Cobham welcomes students with enquiring minds, an international mindset, and a desire to make a difference and bursaries are available for Middle School students aged 11 or 13, and High School, which includes the world-renowned International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), for students aged 16.
Applications for bursaries for the 2020/21 academic year are invited until 29 November 2019 from students within the local community who could benefit from ACS’s broad international curriculum, diverse community and inspirational environment but would be unable to do so without financial assistance. All bursaries are awarded on a means-tested basis and, dependent on each student’s individual circumstances, range from ten per cent to 100 per cent of the schools’ fees. Students applying for the IBDP bursary will be expected to achieve in the region of five A grades at GCSE.
Since the launch of its bursary programme in 2017, ACS International Schools has awarded 35 bursaries totalling some £800k and supporting children aged between 11 and 16 across its three schools in Cobham, Egham and Hillingdon. Commenting on the bursary programme, Barnaby Sandow, who recently joined ACS Cobham as Head of School, said:
Our aim as a charitable entity is to advance education through bursaries and widen access to students who might not otherwise be able to attend.
“Our bursaries are part of a £2.2 million financial commitment by ACS over seven years for recipient students, helping them get ready for a changing world that demands a new kind of learning and thinking. I urge anyone who believes they may be eligible to apply and have the chance for a superb education at our leading international school.”
Interested families and students can find out more about how to apply for an ACS bursary, studying the IB or attending an open day by visiting acs-schools.com. Mr Sandow added:
This resonates powerfully with me personally, having been a recipient of a bursary myself. It changed my immediate pathway, opened doors and provided me with the aptitudes that I have needed to succeed on my own journey. The thought of coming to ACS and being a part of providing similar life-changing opportunities for other people feels like things are coming full circle.
